Yay! I got my Twitter back!

True story. And guess what my first tweet was…:) Thanks to a Twitter rep called ‘tiger’. What a weird name for a cool guy (or girl?). Maybe he helped me out because of my extreme feline love.

So its back to (the) business (of tweeting)… And oh, before I forget, a huge middle finger to the attacker, whoever the fuck you are!

Our Father…

I woke up exactly 12:46pm this afternoon. That was a good 12-hour sleep. Something I haven’t had in a long time.

I had a conversation with a friend via IM, Saturday evening. We were joking about ‘defiled beds’ and praying on such beds when I hinted that I wasn’t a Christian. Her response – “that’s very foolish”. Then next thing – “1 more person I need to pray for”. LOL. Maybe I dont know how things work but I’d like to think if I were God, I would dis-own such a Christian. But then, that’s probably why I’m not God… or probably a reason why there’s no ‘God’.

Now, dont get me wrong. I’m not atheist. I was brought up in a Christian home. My dad was a priest, and my mum was a chorister. We attended Deeper Life Bible Church. I still respect some of the church’s values even though I don’t actively attend it anymore – the numerous reasons for this will be discussed some other time. At some point anyway, I had to stop in my religious tracks, and try to see things from the other side of the fence.

So I woke up 12:46pm and didn’t actually get up till about 3 hours later. My laptop was on the bed (was on facebook before I slept off), so I checked my facebook notifications, replied emails, checked up on what those I follow on Twitter were up to, and started reading Heroes spoilers. Basically, my ‘weekend’ ended right after that cos I was back to work in no time. At least, I had a good night rest in a long time.

The day is over already. Tomorrow is Monday. Guess its time to say that goodnight prayer. Getting rusty these days, but I recollect prayers start with “Our Father…” :-) Goodnight!

Hello world!

A true Hello World indeed!

This is my first post on this blog. Never mind the older posts – I imported those from my previous Windows Live Spaces and WordPress.com blogs.

This blog will give you an insight into the weird and lonely life of a programmer, and his frequent disappointing encounters with the real-world. By the way, I just love this theme. It’s so simple… and it defines me, I guess. Don’t have much to say apart from reminding you to add this page to your RSS reader.

:-)

Nokia N82 black version is out

Same old features, nothing new…except the black outlook which might be of interest to those who called the silver one ugly. LOL

Freedom of speech

What in heavens will get a politician’s daughter scared when she sees her name on someone’s blog?! I aint saying no more than that, but I think if i can pen it down in my diary, then I can put it up here. Does anyone disagree? Anyways, hope you guys are enjoyin’ ur new year celeberations – with freedom of expression of course :) !

I think I’ll be more regular now with my blog postings this year (My own new year resolution). 1 post per day! Remember the ‘one post a day’ tournament that held last November, thank heavens I didnt participate! I’d have been the worst contestant. Well, I think its time for me to express my freedom of speech to its maximum.

Happy new year y’all

Imagine, after all the pomp and {forgotten the spelling} that usually follows the transition from one year to another, Olubi Ezra is just celebrating his! From 10pm Dec 31st to 3am Jan 1st, I was sitted at my laptop. I tried calling a few friends to see what’s up but they were all in church! WTF?! Why was the whole of nigeria in church? Was chatting with a girlfriend in the U.S. who was watching the whatever ball dropping in times square, whatever that means. . . but she was obviously having fun while masses down here (or should I say up here:) ) where praying.

I asked someone the following day to tell me the importance of the prayers, and ended up having my christianity questioned! Here are excerpts:

ME: y d i hav to go to church on dec 31?! please give me a very good reason
Her: its important
ME: a gud reason.
Her: cos its to usher in a new yr
Her: u hav a new yr resolution
Her: rite?
ME: the new year would still come even if 3 meteoriites wiped out life on earth
ME: and of wat significance is a new year resolution?! if its going to be forgotten by the end of january
Her: it keeps u in check
Her: as in
Her: mayb like if there r things
ME: it can be made anytime. it doesnt hav to be at the start of the year
ME: in that case, u’re kinda worshippin the date, not god
Her: no
Her: am not
Her: its to pronounce gud things in ur life 4 d whole yr
ME: how?
ME: what extra effect does prayin on dec 31st have over praying march 14?
Her: wel
ME: u knw all u’re sayin isnt convincing at all. its just the religious illusion we’ve come to take as the norm in nigeria
Her: dats not thru

Wow! Tis very funny to me that the country that seems to be the most prayerful is also the one of the most notorious and corrupt! Well, that aside, hope you guys had a wonderful new year celeberation – cos I’m still expecting my gifts:).

Take care y’all.

Taking my time

First and foremost, I would like to apologize for not posting anything for some time now. I really have no excuse. I’ll do my best to be more regular here now. But if the comments dont keep coming, I might just stop :) . So y’all should try putting in some encouragement.

Just landed a new job at a web applications development firm in Victoria Island, North Ocean Ltd to be specific. It’s a relatively new company sha but its cool working with them. I’m currently the lead applications developer, hope to step up very soon.

A lot of things have happened to me in recent times. For instance, the girl i talked about previously, her name is Lara Oshibote. She’s acting strange nowadays. i really dont know what exactly is wrong but funny enough, I still feel I’m in love with her. I really hope her attitude to me will change soon.

Met this girl, Andoki Ibeshi… exactly a week ago online. She’s the daughter to one Hon. Emmanuel Ibeshi, a rep or something. Well, she’s cool and really fun to chat with altho she lied twice about her age to me. She’s probably still taking her time to trust me maybe.

Lastly, I recently started showing myself on the rap section of some Nigerian forum like that, nairaland.com to be specific. Entered in for a competition for the best rapper on that forum, you can check it out here. Hopefully, I should win sha! Abeg make una pray for me. My screen name there is Naijafan (just in case).

Wishing y’all a merry christmas and happy new year!

Night time in Lagos (my first experience)

Should i say last night was hell? maybe not! But it was definately an experience. I stepped out about 5 mins after the previous post and headed to the nearest bus stop – on foot! Unfortunately, the straight buses to ogba that usually hang around where gone… so i decided to go to the other familiar bus stop on Lagos Island, known to me as CMS. I got there aroung 10:09pm and guess what, they had closed for the day! That was when reality finally dawned on me – i was going to be relying on some good samaritan since i dont really know lagos.

I walked down the road to the last bus going down to obalende. after getting in, i asked the passenger right beside me if i could get buses to iju or agege from obalende, luckily someone sitting behind me answered that he was also going to agege. wow! if i could get to agege, i’ll definitely find my way home.

The journey was smooth… late hour factor probably, although a lot of shops were still active. we got to obalende only to find out that the only bus left was going to oshodi. i had no idea of the time cos my phone battery had gon flat earlier. after arriving at oshodi, my ‘samaritan’ said he’ll be leaving me cos he had to go do something @ iyana ipaja first (i wonder what kind of person he was!) at that time of the day (or maybe night) for that matter.

Oshodi was still bubbling… people watching movies in different places, touts still all over the place, and i guess pick-pockets still doing what they knw best. I put my hands in my pockets so as to secure the wallet there… i guess after about 30 mins, i finally got a bus to agege.

Agege wasn’t as it would have been 1.5 hours earlier. I switched on my phone to check the time and promptly turned it off. 11:23pm. the bus took quite some time to get filled up. some women were still out selling stuff. i wonder who planned patronising them as the streets were empty except for a few people like  me (maybe not like me sha). funny enough, i got to my gate exactly 11:47pm. something that can never happen during the day – a less than 10 mins journey from agege to white house b/stop (agbado road). As expected, the gates where already locked (do i have to say that?). I got in tho.
